WHERE THE PAGER TAKES US – AUTUMN BIRDING
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th September 2017

Our two day trips followed the same itinerary each day, starting at the excelllent Hornchurch Country Park in the Ingrebourne Valley. We had brilliant views of a juvenile SPOTTED CRAKE as it strutted through the reedbeds below us and other species included 24 COMMON SNIPE, 5 GREEN SANDPIPERS, RING-NECKED PARAKEETS, BLACKCAPS, CETTI’S WARBLERS and COMMON KINGFISHER.

We then headed up the coast to Minsmere RSPB reserve where we caught up with the juvenile RED-NECKED PHALAROPE plus a large selection of waders including LITTLE STINTS, RED KNOT, COMMON & GREEN SANDPIPERS, BAR & BLACK-TAILED GODWIT plus more. A great supporting cast were seen during our visits here with five EURASIAN HOBBIES, EURASIAN BITTERN, BLACK & LITTLE TERNS, LITTLE GULL, BEARDED REEDLING, DARK-BELLIED BRENT GEESE, COMMON KINGFISHER, EURASIAN FIRECREST, COMMON REDSTART amongst others.
