Saturday 15th December 2018WINTER BIRDING AT SCULTHORPE MOOR & TITCHWELL RSPB RESERVE
We start the day at the Hawk & Owl Trust reserve at Sculthorpe Moor where we expect to see species such as Marsh Tit, Water Rail, Eurasian Nuthatch, Eurasian Treecreeper, Tawny Owl, Brambling, Eurasian Bullfinch, Common Redpoll and Eurasian Siskin before moving on to the north coast and the RSPB reserve at Titchwell.
The freshmarsh will be alive with wintering waders such as Golden Plover, Red Knot, Black and Bar-tailed Godwits with maybe a wintering Spotted Redshank and wildfowl including Northern Pintail, Eurasian Wigeon and Eurasian Teal. The sea may hold a late skua such as Arctic, Pomarine or Great and there is always the chance of wintering divers and grebes including Slavonian and Red-necked Grebe. A large wintering flock of Common Scoter occurs offshore along with a few Long-tailed Duck, Velvet Scoter and Common Eider.
The culmination of the day will be to overlook the reedbed roost where Western Marsh Harrier and Hen Harrier will round off a great day!
