A day exploring the Brecks on the Suffolk/Norfolk border and if the weather is good, Northern Goshawk is a good possibility displaying over the vast woodlands. In open areas of clear-fell we look and listen for Woodlark singing their fluty song overhead, with Yellowhammer and European Stonechat perching on uprooted tree stumps.
Moving on to several other sites in the area we expect to find Firecrest, Common Crossbill, Brambling, Eurasian Siskin, Eurasian Nuthatch, Marsh Tit and Hawfinch. Lesser Spotted Woodpecker occur in the region in small numbers and early spring is a good time to locate them as they drum and call, searching for a mate.
Other species we hope to see include Grey Wagtail, Mandarin Duck, Common Buzzard, Common Kingfisher, Grey Partridge and Red Kite.
