With wader migration underway we will use up-to-the-minute information to make the most of the day.
Many species of wader migrate through the UK at this time of year and we can expect to see around 20 species on this tour, including Curlew Sandpiper and Little Stint amongst the commoner Dunlin. Hopefully we may come across something rarer such as Broad-billed or White-rumped Sandpipers, Red-necked Phalarope, Temminck’s Stint, Long-billed Dowitcher or even Sharp-tailed Sandpiper!
Other species which we hope to add to our lists are Eurasian Bittern, Western Marsh Harrier, Eurasian Hobby and Water Rail.
This is a good chance to study waders at close range and to memorise the identification features of this tricky group of species!
