Swallow Birding & Wildlife Partner, Leader and Tour Planner Steve Grimwade has been birdwatching for over 35 years. During this time he has visited Spain, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Belarus, Denmark, Iceland, Poland, France, Norway, Estonia, Holland, Belgium, Georgia, Morocco, Turkey, The Gambia, Greece, Mauritius, Australia, The Canaries, Israel, Hungary, Bulgaria, Corsica and Cyprus in search of birds.
He is a well-known birder in Essex having birded extensively in the county for many years, finding rare birds including Whiskered Tern and Pacific Golden Plover which were second records for Essex. Steve has also co-edited The Essex Bird Report, winning the Best County Bird Report award and was Art & Photographic Editor for the Helm book The Birds of Essex. He is Vice Chair of the Essex Birdwatching Society, has recently joined the Identification Panel and has been leading their monthly birdwatching field trips for over 15 years. Steve is also co-host of a monthly YouTube live video stream called Birds of Essex which features news, bird sightings, equipment reviews and more. Steve also led guided walks for the Essex Wildlife Trust for over seven years.
As well as birds, Steve has a huge interest in Butterflies, Moths, Wildflowers, Dragonflies and other insects which all feature in our tours.
