GOLDEN ISLES OF SCILLY – AUTUMN MIGRATION

Saturday 9th - Saturday 16th October 2021

Our annual tour to the Isles of Scilly was a great success with amazing weather, superb landscapes, good food, great company and best of all the diverse range of wildlife.

Birds were from all points of the compass with AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER from the west, RED-RUMPED SWALLOW, WESTERN CATTLE EGRET and EUROPEAN SERIN from the south, EURASIAN WRYNECK, BLUETHROAT, RED-BREASTED FLYCATCHER from the east and JACK SNIPE, SNOW BUNTING & RUSTIC BUNTING from the north.

Other species of note included SPOTTED & EUROPEAN PIED FLYCATCHERS, PINK-FOOTED GEESE, SPOTTED REDSHANK (a Scilly rarity), LESSER REDPOLL, EURASIAN SISKINS, REDWING, MEDITERRANEAN GULLS, COMMON KINGFISHER, MERLIN, WHINCHAT, SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF and lots more.

Of course it wasn’t just birds with PORTUGUESE MAN-O-WAR, ATLANTIC GREY SEAL, LESSER WHITE-TOOTHED SHREW and lots of amazing tropical plants.

We can’t wait to return to the Golden Isles in 2022!
