ISLE OF WIGHT & DORSET WILDLIFE BREAK

Tuesday 25th - Saturday 29th May 2021

Our first tour since October 2020 and it was great to be showing our clients the wonderful wildlife that we are blessed with here in the U.K.

We kicked the tour off on the beautiful Isle of Wight where we found MEDITERRANEAN GULLS, COMMON and SANDWICH TERNS, COMMON EIDER, PEREGRINE FALCONS, NORTHERN RAVENS and NORTHER FULMARS whilst the butterflies stole the show with GLANVILLE FRITILLARIES, DINGY and GRIZZLED SKIPPERS, SMALL BLUE, COMMON BLUE, BROWN ARGUS, SMALL HEATH, GREEN HAIRSTREAK & SMALL COPPER. We also connected with colony of WALL LIZARDS and had good views of RED SQUIRREL.

The following day we enjoyed in the New Forest where the undoubted highlight was up to four NORTHERN GOSHAWK. Other birds of note included WOODLARK, three COMMON CUCKOO, EUROPEAN STONECHAT, HAWFINCH, EURASIAN BULLFINCH, EURASIAN SISKIN, WILLOW WARBLERS plus singing COMMON FIRECRESTS. Butterflies including PEARL-BORDERED FRITILLARY, BRIMSTONE, LARGE WHITE and GREEN-VEINED WHITE were added to our ever-growing list.

The last two days were spent in Dorset and Hampshire where goodies included 50 LITTLE TERNS, COMMON GUILLEMOTS, RAZORBILLS, NORTHERN FULMAR, BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, NORTHERN GANNETS, EURASIAN SHAG, EURASIAN ROCK PIPITS, NORTHERN WHEATEAR, LITTLE OWL, COMMON NIGHTINGALE, CORN BUNTING, YELLOWHAMMER & RED KITES.

We encountered lots of butterflies including WALL BROWN, MARSH FRITILLARIES and ADONIS BLUE, whilst plants such as IVY BROOMRAPE, BURNT-TIP ORCHID, FIELD FLEAWORT were good to see.

This concluded a fabulous five day trip with amazing clients, some great locations and a huge variety of wonderful wildlife that we had the pleasure to witness.
