It was great to return to The Camargue, France for a five-day tour of this amazing birding location.

The vast wetlands were home to thousands of birds including gaudy GREATER FLAMINGOS plus PURPLE HERONS, SQUACCO HERONS, GLOSSY IBIS, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS and EURASIAN SPOONBILLS amongst others.

Other species of note included COLLARED PRATINCOLE, SLENDER-BILLED GULLS, GULL-BILLED TERNS, WHISKERED TERNS, RED-CRESTED POCHARDS, WESTERN SWAMPHEN and SHORT-TOED SNAKE EAGLE.

We also visited other great habitats where goodies such as LITTLE BUSTARD, IBERIAN GREY SHRIKE, EUROPEAN ROLLER, EURASIAN GOLDEN ORIOLE, TAWNY PIPIT, CIRL BUNTING, EUROPEAN CRESTED TIT, EUROPEAN BEE-EATER, MELODIOUS WARBLER, RED-BACKED SHRIKE, GRIFFON VULTURE, BLACK KITES, LESSER KESTREL and lots more.

As with all our tours, we saw plenty of other wildlife including SPANISH GATEKEEPER, FALSE ILEX HAIRSTREAK, WESTERN MARBLED WHITE, SOUTHERN WHITE ADMIRAL, SCARCE SWALLOWTAIL and WESTERN BATH WHITE as well as WHITE-TAILED SKIMMER, SOUTHERN DAMSELFLY, DARK SPREADWING, BROAD SCARLET and RED-VEINED DARTER DRAGONFLIES.

Our accommodation, food and weather were second to none and we very much look forward to returning in 2025.
