Back from a new tour for Swallow Birding and Wildlife to the wetlands of Rutland and Lincolnshire. The weather was amazing from start to finish and the birds equally so.
There were many highlights of the weekend including flocks of EURASIAN SPOONBILLS, CURLEW SANDPIPERS, LITTLE STINTS, WOOD SANDPIPER, more RUFF than you could shake a stick at plus EURASIAN WHIMBREL, SPOTTED REDSHANKS, COMMON, GREENSHANK, RED KNOT, COMMON SNIPE plus over the weekend the massive high tides provided us with stunning views of over 100,000 waders swirling and moving over The Wash as the water covered their feeding grounds.
Other species of note that our group enjoyed were two OSPREYS, two PEREGRINE FALCONS including one that was ringed in Stratford, London! WHINCHATS, PARASTIC JAEGERS, SANDWICH TERNS, COMMON EIDER, COMMON KINGFISHERS, NORTHERN WHEATEARS, WESTERN YELLOW WAGTAILS, WESTERN MARSH HARRIERS, GREAT EGRETS galore, RUDDY SHELDUCK and lots more.
